hi,
i think if you were going to buy anything, i'd get the quad if you plan to use the computer for a long time and if you do gaming with the newer games. you could get a Q9450 now for $280 or so. i dont think the 160 mhz difference in clock speed is really worth.
With the Quad you will got a great boost in dvd encoding..and for the game.. it,s will be a bit faster.. they don't support quad core already..The Q9650 isn't a lot better than that Q9550, is it? It's just a lowly increase in clock speed, isn't it?
Don't do it as there is no real peformance improvements for gaming from dual to quad core in reality. If you were doing things like multimedia or running virtualization apps then he would see it.
That Q9550 could be easily overclocked to 3.6 or 3.8GHz.
hi,
go for the dual core. they'll produce less heat and go higher.
Crysis is one of the few programs that actually supports quad core. Just about everything else wont work with it so it'll be as if you only had two cores for just about everything else.
