DDR2 is higher speed memory, period. It is a newer and more efficient technology. Just as DDR3, DDR4, and DDR 5 (mainly used in GPUs) is also Dual channel is completely unrelated. All that means is that you have 2 (or more) sticks of same speed memory running in adjacent slots

    hi,
2x2gb sticks will put less strain on the northbridge and will allow you to add more ram in the future.

I was using dual channel DDR, so it won't really be a difference. I went with 2 x 2 GB because for one, I realized that I wasn't sure if the motherboard that will be used even supports full quad, which if course it doesn't, so that made that decision easy.
