New Asus motherboard No beeps No Post No Video

Hello, recently i upgraded my pc and bought the following:

    • DSAN-DX (brand new - no clue on BIOS revision as it doesnt seem to be on the CD, but the CD version is 1.0)
    • Xeon E5405 (single CPU)
    • 8GB Crucial memory (2x 4GB Registered ECC DDR2-667)
    • Corsair HX1000W PSU
    • Arctic Silver Thermal Compound

I kept some of my previously working components:

AMD Athlon64 3500+ (do not know the revision)
    2 x 1GB Kingston ValueRAM PC3200
    Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum eX
    Gamepads, USB devices, etc.

i had assembled the pc myself and i think i have made some silly while doing all this First, one of the CPU pins bent, so I had to grab a metal file and try to straighten it up. According to me I did it correctly - the pin did not come out and it appeared almost straight.

after that I inserted the PCI-e card and apparently I think it did not went in correctly. It appeared fully seated but the very end of the card (right next to the metal slot cover with the DVI connectors) was squashing one of those small black cyllinders (I think they are called capacitors). I did not realize this until later.

finally i assembled everything and power on the pc .motherboard small led that lighted green, which is good according to the manual. However, when I press the power button, everything appears to be "running" (all fans spin) but I get no video from the card. I get no beeps either. I thought the speaker connector was upside down and changed it to no avail.

then after a bit research I finally sorted out the problem with the card, so I carefully straightened the capacitor so the card would not squish it and reseated the card. Nothing. I removed the RAM in hopes that the mobo would beep. Nope.

my motherboard does not have jumpers so I think I cannot select single or dual video with a jumper (thinking perhaps it is preconfigured for SLI - although unlikely in my opinion). I am placing the PCI-e card on the blue slot which is the one you should use in a single display setup.

The motherboard also has a system called AI POST Reporter, that streams prerecorded speech sounds through the onboard audio port when posting. However, I hooked some headphones and turned the thing on and I hear nothing.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

your computer specification looks good. and there should not be any compatibility problems . The most common cause for these problem seem to improper ram placement, but it sounds like you've got that covered too.

now , at first you can check that you've installed your motherboard tray correctly, and that the motherboard is not being grounded to the cabinet tray by anything (loose screw etc). If the board is healthy and the motherboard speaker hooked up, you should get the "No CPU" warning beeps (you could also use the POST speech reporter for this if you connect some headphones or a speaker to the green jack on the onboard sound outputs). Assuming you get the correct beep codes, start adding components one at a time-cpu first, then ram, then single video card. Keep going, rebooting and testing for beep codes at each stage until you find the problem component.

If you don't get any beep codes with nothing connected (just the mobo powered up) then RMA the board or try a different psu.

Also make sure all the power plugs are connected up, including the PCI-e or molex connectors at the back of the video cards and the ez plug and 4-pin aux connector on the mobo itself.

some step you can try to resolve your problem
    1. confirm the processor is seated correctly. (just because the cooler is not falling off does not mean it is seated correctly)
    2. proper clean and check your ram pull it out and swap till you
    3. cpu 4 pin power connector is properly connected next to the cpu.
    4. confirm that your video card is in the pci-e slot which must be on top
    5. Running sata are you using the power sata quick connector or molex 4 pin.
    6. If you are running sata plug into sata1.
    7. 8- cd and dvd drives should be plugged into correct ide channel(ie NOT the blue one).
    8. 9- Make sure your power supply is set for 110v and NOT 220

I would like to start by removing all the connections and again making all the connection properly . the connecter sometimes tend to loose due to Vibrations in the case. Along the same lines, reseating the memory sticks and video card would be next on the list. While you're in there, make sure you blow out any accumulated dust and have a quick look at the hsf making sure it's still securely mounted on the cpu.

If still no luck, it's time to start trying to find the dead component(s). Do you have another computer in the house you can use to test individual components? If not, probably your best bet is to drag the box to a computer shop and have them bench test the motherboard, memory and maybe the hard drive - in that order, I would suspect you'd find a culprit among that bunch.

hello, thanks guys my problem is solved for me I read the instructions for the processor, it said that the processor should fall in to the socket under its own weight, then you can put the arm down. This was not the case. The processor never made contact, so when I checked that out, I pushed ever so slightly and it went it. Then everything worked fine on the next boot.
