Performance difference in Dual and Single side memory

I have came across DDR of same speed but one is single Side and Other is Dual side memory. Can anyone tell me the performance difference in Single side and Dual side memory.

    Thanks in advance

Well i think the cooling is much more efficient in Single sided memory as compared to Dual sided memory if we max out the memory slots since they are slightly thinner. Actually it doesnt make any noticeable differrence in performance, only if the air inside the case is warm.

    Hi Brijesh,
I don't think there is any difference apart from the fact that some companies market their RAM as being good or better for Dual-DDR capable motherboards, actually it is just the creative thinking or you can say marketing by the company. If you get a branded memory module there are no issues.

Companies like Samsung and Crucial provide more reliable and quality memory modules than others. If at all you are using NForce 2 based motherbaords you may need Dual or doubble bandwidth memory channels that means instead of 64 bits you will need 128 bit and it will only with two modules and not one.

    Cheers

As been said above an average user can't tell the difference at all. It is a advantage to run at dual channel but instead of that you can increase the size and run on single channel. Both Single and Dual channel have the same peformanance. Both increase the speed of your computer. The single channel ram is called DDR RAM and the double channel ram is called SD RAM.
For any further details you can refer here

    Hope it helps you...

There was little significant difference between single-channel and dual-channel configurations in synthetic and gaming benchmarks. Dual channel gave at best a 5% speed increase in memory-intensive tasks, not even close to the two times that the term "dual" suggests. So hardly a difference ....
