Dual Core Intel Xeon processor 5060

    Hello,

It turns out that a relative gave me a Dual core Intel Xeon processor at 3.6 GHz 5060 I split comes, because I am a student of biochemistry and molecular dynamics I'm therefore always looking for a computer that is able to reduce the operational leads me to my current computer.

But I searched for various locations motherboards for this type of processor and I have not found. Also I do not know if you better sell it and buy an Intel Core Quad.

I really do not, not if you sell and collect coins to the plate.

and if so, what better sell and buy something better.

    greetings.

    welcome

humm, that processor is used for servers and good, not so convenient that would a server, but even that is very possible that this program is optimized for normal use of computers and so do not take advantage of the virtues of a server. So I think it would be a good option which plants (sell)

I recommend a good first set the specifications of your current computer, and not the program to see if we find any indication of how, in order to recommend a good computer for that purpose, as I see it is essential and a good processor good memories

    greetings

A Quad should be better to load intensive, as though it is Xeon dual-core "only" there are several boards for desktop taking Xeon's only question is if you see your current board supports it or if a new but You can use desktop.

Look at the PC I have is a 2.26GHz Intel Celeron D Socket 486 (or anything), 1GB RAM with an ATI Radeon 9600 XT.

Using programs docking, phylogeny, protein displays and the like that I can do and also protein modeling and molecular dynamics.

If there are 775 boards that support Xeon, mine is supposed Xeon supports some, but I just tried that 3110 is "equal" to the E8400, it is best if you can sell it and you get a quad that is fully supported on desktop.

humm regarding the sale price, not the truth

if so, is that the difference between your current computer and a quad core would be very visible

greetings and good luck with the sale

If I choose to sell, many of the specialized programs for simulations, yet are optimized for use in an architecture like the Xeon, I would opt for a Core2 Duo e8500 or Core2 Quad q6700. Besides this way you get high quality parts more easily.
