Intel or Amd Which motherboard will be preferable for Programing?

Hello everyone,

I am going to buy a laptop soon.I I have googled around and selected some laptop models. So I decided to select these following Two options 'Intel Dual Core (2GHz)' and 'AMD Athlon 64 X2 QL-60 (1.9GHz)'. Can anybody please tell me which one among these has better performance?
(I will be using laptop for internet browsing, progaramming stuff like MATLAB,JAVA etc. Also I ll be loading LINUX in it).

AMD and Intel are both great companies. I had a old computer with Intel Celeron 2.4 GHz, which was slow and "Tired". But i will not blame it all on the processor. There wasn't much RAM, about 512MB. So now i have this AMD Athlon 5000+ Dual-Core 2.60 GHz (5.20 Ghz). It's not so fast, because Dual-Cores only use 100% under big stress, but it's still FAST. If AMD and INTEL worked together on a Six-Core processer, than it would be great. They just need to know how for you i can suggest go for intel

The Core 2 Duo will have about 40% more performance, but since the amd is a bit cheaper and has good performance a bigger hard drive. I'd say you get the amd one.

trying to get something you would enjoy using for programming and playing with. I suggest AMD over Pentium because the faster (1+ Ghz) Pentium chips are kind of weird, you can find info on them if you look for it, and you might as well have a mother board you can use for future AMD's
