4 GB of RAM in XP
Hi
I currently configuration under Windows XP with 4 GB of RAM. I know xp 32 bit handles only 3.2 GB but I wanted to know if the dual channel worked well in games and games used the 4 GB of RAM even though Windows does not recognize.

Re: 4 GB of RAM in XP
I have 2 * 2 GB Dual and works very well. In terms of games I doubt that a game is currently need 4 GB of RAM!

Re: 4 GB of RAM in XP
This is NOT a problem but windows hardware.
Other applications can use the ram not accessible for the simple reason that the address range of ram "missing" are mapped the IO, the ram graphics etc!

Re: 4 GB of RAM in XP
io mapping and graphics RAM is a what.
why when a 2 GB of RAM this mapping is not the RAM or is it si se is not on the RAM.

Re: 4 GB of RAM in XP
You have a 32-bit addressable 4GB, whatever happens to a bone (general public) 32-bit, the IO etc are mapped on top.
So with 2 gb is mapped to the same place except that you do not worry account.
And it serves to send all this without which nothing works, is hyper documented everything

Re: 4 GB of RAM in XP
Yes and no! Having 3.2 GB allows you to have more memory free for any other programs! The system is much more reactive (and dual channel is active although detects only OS 3.2 GB). But rare is the system that require 2GB of RAM for use lambda (for big games today !!!).
