    Motherboard Components Burned (Probably)

    Hi all,
I have a computer with the following specs:

    MSI-K9AGM3 motherboard.
    AMD-Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Processor (Socket AM2)
XFX GeForce 8600GT Graphics Card with 512MB memory (PCI-Xpress)
    2GB DDR2 833MHz RAM
    250GB SATA2 harddisk

Let me give you a little bit of history about what happened. I used to play GTA San Andreas. It used to run fine. Then one fine day what started happening was during gameplay suddenly the colors will go haywire and the game will freeze. I tried all regular things (driver update et all).

Then I opened up my case and saw that the grfx card was overheating but its fan was running all right and few capacitors on the motherboard coming out of the PCI-X slot were burned ( they were looking blacker and kind of fused in comparison to the other capacitors ).

From then on I have tried many games that previously ran well but now gave the same problem of freezing. So I concluded that my motherboard was shot.

My question to you guys and gals is two fold :

    1) Is the above diagnosis correct ?
    2) What motherboard and Gfx card will you suggest within a budget of 15000 rupees for an upgrade ? (Note: I want to remain loyal to MSI and do not want to change my processor, ram and harddisk)

Please help me out you all. I was personally thinking of the following config :

    1) MSI - DKA790GX Platinum
    2) R4670-2D512/D3 for gfx card

How old is your motherboard? Isn't it in warranty anymore cause if it is then you can simply replace it without buying a new motherboard. Although you are a fan of MSI boards, I am of Asus and recently I bought an Asus P5k Deluxe which costed me 14000 Rs. with the HD 4870 graphics card at a cost of 19000 Rs. It is a good overclocking board with 8 Sata Ports and also 2x Ethernet capacity. But in any case you can go for the specs that you have listed.
