    Can't Install 8800 GT

Recently purchased a GeForce 8800 GT and when I put the card into my computer and turn the power on, I can't see anything. Furthermore, my computer just keeps making this clicking noise (it's not the HDD) like it's trying to boot up, but can't. Also, no beeps.

Anyway, I already have an old PCI-E 7800 in my PC, so I know the PCI-E slot, etc. are alright. Furthermore, my BIOS is configured for PCI-E. However, just for the sake of argument, I switched it over to PCI and then tried to get the PC going like that, but still, the same clicking. Furthermore, I have a 550W PSU, so that can't be the problem. Also, I did NOT forget to plug in the PCI-E power connector.

So, basically, at a total loss. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

what operating system you are using?
if you are using xp or vista then for any hardware changes you will have to reinstall the os again.

I am using XP, but why would I have to reinstall the OS? Furthermore, with the 8800 GT in my system, nothing boots up, not even the BIOS. I can't see anything, so even if I reinstall the OS, I doubt it would make a difference in this case.

Yes. Apparently, there is a problem with the 8800 GT and AMD motherboards from certain chip manufacturers. There are two solutions:

    1) Update the firmware on the graphics card, which involves installing the card temporary on another PC, which can handle it and updating the firmware and then reinstalling it on your PC.

    2) Getting a new, compatible motherboard.

I went with 2) myself, as I wanted to get a better, faster motherboard/CPU.
