    Refresh rate problem

Hi all...long time lurker here. This isn't your normal refresh rate problem. Right now I have it set to 60Hz which works fine. The problem is that spontaneously the refresh rate will change either way too high for my monitor or way too low for my monitor and displays an error message.

The only remedy is to restart, I've memorized the keystrokes to do it properly, but this is very dangerous since I've almost lost important work as a result.

I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could offer some suggestions to remedy the problem.

    Thanks

By the way the monitor is a MAG lcd and I have a machine with XP SP2, ATI graphics and I use McAffee for antivirus.

The monitor is about 4 years old..I have tried updating the drivers, problem is that they are just the generic ones no installation disk came with the monitor and the company does not currently offer any drivers online for this version.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing as well so, we'll see.

    Thanks!!
