GTX 780 SLI or GTX Titan graphics card

I am using a Ivy bridge i5 machine with 8GB RAM in a Gigabyte P67 motherboard. This board is able to use only 2 into 8x speed at PCIE 2 for SLI setup. Can anyone tell me if I will get good performance with 8x bandwidth of 2 x Gtx 780 graphics card or should I go with the GTX Titan at 16x? Thanks for any information in advance.

I dont think that you should go for SLI because both GTX Titan and GTX 780 graphics card are usually the same. It is just that Gtx 780 is a little slower for about 10% on the same clocks. It also has the half the memory and will not support cuda double-precision calculations speedily. Thats the major difference in comparison. So, if you go for single overclocked GTX 780 graphics card then it will be enough for you.

The Titan card is only 10% better than the single GTX 780, so a 780 SLI will definitely outbeat the Titan by some good amount. Also, if you get a Gtx 670 in SLI then it will work better than a single Titan. There are many motherboards that split the lanes for SLI and Crossfire technology into x8-x8 speed, so you dont have to worry about getting the 780 to work at x8-x8 pcie 2.0.

Instead of using 2 cards you can use an overclocked GTX 780 that will also outperform the single Gtx Titan graphics card and comparing its price, it is also cheaper. But I agree that the performance usually increases on the SLI setup of 780 and its too good than the overclocked card. You will not get any micro-stuttering problem as well.
