I will suggest you to get Sapphire HD 7770 Vapor-X OC, I have been using from quite a few months and it works great. You will surely get better fps with 7770 compared to HD 6850, I play games like Battlefield 3 (BF3) and get 560fps without any issue. If you will overclock your card you will get better.

I haven’t used any of the cards but just to help you out, I have done little bit of research and have gone through some test carried on these cards for below games and have found HD 6850 leaving HD 7770 far behind.
    • Crysis: warhead
    • Metro :2033
    • Dirt 3
    • Total war: Shot gun 2
    • Batman: Arkham city

So considering the result I will suggest you to go for HD 6850.

Re: Sapphire HD 6850 vs Sapphire HD 7770 Vapor-X OC

I have bought “SAPPHIRE 100282XTREME Radeon HD 5850 Xtreme 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity “It is available for almost the same price. By now I have used it for 3 months and it has performed quite well. I think it will be worth getting if you are building up a decent gaming rig. If you want to try out overclocking than in that case Sapphire HD 7770 Vapor-X OC will surely be a better choice over HD 6850.

Q Jones are you sure that you have checked out HD 6850 vs HD 7770 Vapor-X OC test?? I guess you might have gone through HD 7770 test and not HD 7770 Vapor-X OC edition?? Just cross check it and clear my doubt . I have asked about these cards to some of my friends and almost all of them said that there won’t be noticeable difference between fps but they do say that HD 6850 remains cooler.

Unidentified thanks for your suggestion but I really don’t want to look for more choices any more. I just want to decide the best amongst Sapphire HD 6850 and Sapphire HD 7770 Vapor-X OC.

I will try out overclocking for games to get better fps and considering that HD 7770 Vapor-X OC is catching my eye for now.

If it is about overclocking than even I will suggest you to go with Sapphire HD 7770 Vapor-X OC. As far as I am aware after overclocking HD 7770 Vapor-X OC you can achieve HD6870 performance easily, this will be better than performance of HD 6850. If you will overclock 7770 to 1100mhz core and your memory accordingly than you will get 50 FPS on 1920x1080 easily. Just go for it, best of luck.
