Has AMD reduced the price for 7950, 7870 and 7850 cards?

I don’t know if it is true or not, but one of friends who works in a computer hardware store was saying that AMD has reduced the price of their graphic cards. I didn’t meet him thereafter, so that is why I wanted to know if it is true. I am planning to get a new graphic card for myself anyways and I have 7950, 7870 and 7850 on my target. Can someone tell me how much price have been reduced for these graphic cards?

It is true that AMD has reduced the price of their graphic cards. I don’t exactly know how many graphic cards have reduced price, AMD Radeon HD 7950 has gone down from $349 to $319. This means that AMD has reduced price of their graphic cards by a considerable rate. Similarly, price of AMD Radeon HD 7870 has gone down from $299 to $249. The price of AMD Radeon HD 7850 has also been reduced. Price for 1 GB version is reduced from $234 to $189 and that of 2 GB version has been reduced from $249 to $209. I think this is a good alternative and reason for us to buy AMD graphic cards instead of Nvidia’s graphic cards.

I think that it is the competition with Nvidia that has made AMD reduce the prices of there graphics card. I mean everybody was going for Nvidia when the prices of video card were same. So I think that AMD must have reduced the price to attract people towards there brand. It must be some sort of business strategy that must have led AMD to reduce the prices of there graphic cards considerably. Now I don’t think that Nvidia wont be able to lower there prices at the rate which they are selling at. Anyways, the customer is benefitted from this move.

According to me the reason for this reduction in price of the graphic card must be because of the intense requirement for it. Nowadays, people install graphic cars in their computer even if they are not into gaming. The quality of images and videos have gone so high that people need graphic cards for proper viewing of these images and videos. Before it was just gaming that required graphic cards, but now the requirements have expanded. I think with rising demand, AMD won’t suffer any loss after reducing the prices. With reduced price, AMD will get more customers equalizing the equation of sales.

It must be some new technology that AMD will bring soon. With new technology releasing, it must be trying to sell off all the graphic cards with old technology. I think that in coming year, AMD will bring out new kind of graphic cards and thus it wants to finish the stock of old graphic cards like AMD Radeon HD 7950, AMD Radeon HD 7850 and AMD Radeon HD 7870.

I think that AMD has started using low priced material to make graphics card. They must have reduced the price thus. With cheaper parts, the total cost of making the hardware will even go down. But the thing to worry is that, will these cheap parts survive the heavy load put on by high end games. Also I am doubtful that they will survive overclocking or high voltages. Price reduction is a great thing AMD has done, but the quality of the product must also be taken care of.
