Can I use AMD HD 7000 with Mountain Lion

I am willing to get AMD HD 7000 for my system running on Mountain Lion. I was thinking of running it in crossfire with my old Geforce 600 series but my friends are saying that AMD HD 7000 is not supported by Mountain Lion and it won’t work. If at all it will work then I won’t be able to run it at full resolution. Is that true? Is there anyone using HD 7000 with Mountain Lion and can share his experience so that I can have a better idea of the whole scenario.

Yes AMD HD 7000 is listed as Not Supported by Mac OS X which includes recent versions like Snow Leopard, Lion, and Mountain Lion. Your friends have said you the right thing. Your card needs to be compatible with Mountain Lion to work fine, if you get a card that might be incompatible then it might work but you won’t be able to display your screen at full resolution. As far as AMD graphic card is concerned, I have come across the below supported and no supported list.

Supported
Radeon HD 4000 series
Radeon HD 5000 series
Radeon HD 6000 series (Except 6900 series)

Not Supported
Radeon HD 6900 series
Radeon HD 7000 series

Why do you want to go for a card that is not compatible, better get highly recommended ones like Radeon HD 5000 series and Radeon HD 6000 series. Radeon 5000 and 6000 series graphics cards have been found to be working great with Mac OS X. If I go in detail then 6600, 6700, and 6800 series are quite popular where as 6400 and 6500 series are not that popular. If you don’t mind going for the supported list of cards then I will suggest you to get 6500 series graphic card.
