    Maximum power consumption by a single GPU

    From the past one year, I have been using a Dell optiplex Desktop computer which previously came with a 265w power efficient psu. Right now I am thinking about installing a new Graphics card in it but I have doubt about whether my Current power supply is enough to power up the GPU or not. I have heard that GPU need sufficient amount of power supply and during the game play it drain more from the PSU. Can anyone tell me what the maximum power consumption of gpu is?

    After analyzing both NVidia cards and ATI cards, it seems that NVidia leading in energy consumption, where even the Geforce 7800 GTX 512MB reaches the consumer 100W the maximum, while the X1900XTX can reach 120W.     These data do not need to be taken as being accurate, but as guidance only. Each model may have different variations because such manufacturers distribute the same models with different frequencies, or eventually improve the manufacturing process of a same chip, etc.
