Hi
I’m planning to buy Radeon HD 7970. I know that this card is PCI 3 compatible. But my mobo has only PCI 2 16x slot.
Will this card work on my system?
My system details….
AMD Phenom X2 3.1 GHz
MSI 780 GX mobo
4 GB DDR3 RAM
Corsair VX 550watt PSU

I think, yes, the radeon HD 7970 works on motherboards with PCIe 2.x, no worries. PCIe is just a big, backwards compatible family. It just looks like a great card right out of the box, but on the other hand, price is something that is a little worrying though. Overall a true eyefinity/high res or 3D/120Hz performance card.

Thanks for the info Hockson. Actually 3D gaming is the reason why I'm going for this card. I know the price is high and I have one more card in mind HD 6970. Do you think HD 6970 will also serve my purpose???
Yes the radeon HD 6970 will be giving you a better 3g gaming experience as it supports Stereoscopic 3D gaming . you can get it without any doubt. Thanks for the info Hockson.
