Is it worth to get AMD Radeon HD 7970?

Currently I am having the ATI Radeon HD 5970 and this is very good in terms of the performance. I just don’t like that it is only of 1 gigs. So I am going to change this one. Now I am thinking to get the AMD Radeon HD 7970. But I am unsure about the performance of this card. So can someone over here please provide some suggestion/information about this card or if there is some other better recommendation for this.

My suggestion to you is to wait for the HD7990 otherwise for the time when the new nVidia series is released. This is just the suggestion and you can get whatever you like.

AMD Radeon HD 7970 is also not a bad option to go for if you cannot wait for new releases. AMD Radeon HD 7970, code-named Tahiti, is currently the highest performing single-GPU available for purchase that can overwhelm even the flagship of Nvidia. This is based on a new architecture with a production process to 28Nm, should be followed this year by the other models, however, and destined to a much broader market segment, especially for the price-performance ratio.

Re: Is it worth to get AMD Radeon HD 7970?

AMD Radeon HD 7970 is the top-end graphics (for now) of the Radeon HD 7000 series based on the new architecture AMD Core Graphic Next. The Radeon HD 7970 graphics card is the single most powerful GPU to date. For quite some time, AMD has gained a reputation for bringing to market highly competitive graphics cards and cheaply. In late 2010, AMD Radeon revolutionized the market with the release of the AMD Radeon HD 6800 series and 6900. In early 2011, AMD launched the most powerful graphics card world, the AMD Radeon HD 6990.

I also have to buy a new card but really it will be worth to not hurry and wait for the new series. That will come with much advanced technology and we will get better performance out of that. So continue with your old card for few more days.

This card is not a simple variation of the HD 6000 series, the architecture has been revised from the ground up, are loaded with new features and functions, including DirectX 11.1 compatibility. Consisting of 4.31 billion transistors produced at 28 nanometers, the GPU Tahiti has 60% more transistors than the Cayman GPU. So this is not bad option if you cannot wait.
