Getting BCCODE 116 with nVidia GeForce GTX 555 in Alienware X51

I don’t know I keep getting this in my laptop. Well my machine crashes in the middle of the process because of overheating. Well on checking the PSU supply what I got to see is that only 150W have been used by the card and Alienware X51 uses 330watt PSU. The fan and all are everything running perfectly then what do you think where could be the problem? That’s what I am wondering? I just want to know if the PU is supplying enough power for the video card or not? Just a curious question from my side for you all. Hope you will answer it.

Well I think the card is getting over heated and mind you over heating of the card has nothing to do with the psu. So have a proper inspection of that well the total wattage supplied for the graphic card is perfectly ok. So I don’t see that as a problem.

If your machine is under warranty then better show it to the dell service center and they will replace the card. Yes like the above user said the card is at fault and not the psu. So you better show it to the dell service center.

Hopefully something good comes out from there.

You know graphic card driving 150W of power from PSU is a normal thing. Not a big thing at all. Even I had a GeForce GTX 555 and I checked the power supply it was around 150W only. So no harms there.

Now no need to call them up. Well I decided to do the research on my own. On opening up the system I saw that the video card wire was caught in the video card fan and hence that was making it over heated. Removed the card saw that the wire had some kind of burns from outside and hence I installed the card again made sure that the fan was nowhere near the wire. Anyways I am happy that my lappy is working fine and back to the normal, that’s what I was needing.

No dell service center. I am relaxed.
