The Panasonic company, producing both types of displays, did not oppose the LCD and plasma panels, and positioned them in conjunction with a set of other features for a certain use cases. Meanwhile, the difference in principle of the liquid crystal and plasma displays is significant that, of course, affect the final characteristics of the TV. With the principle of the LCD panels, including the popular current LED lighting, we have recently introduced our readers to the article Technology LED TV - how it works . Let us briefly recall: LCD screen - a multi-layered "cake" of the filter color liquid crystal array, backlight and more. Liquid crystal cell with optical filters of the three primary colors by themselves do not glow, but depending on the level of stress applied to the them, "opening up" for a full or partial transmission of light, or simply "closed" to display a black pixel.

One of the key issues that developers have to solve today's "plasma" is related to the transparent front electrode, which by reason of PDP technology is "top" of the image. Traditionally used for these purposes and at the same time transparent conductive compounds based on indium tin oxide. However, for large screen diagonals resistance thin layer of transparent conductor cause too much voltage drop, which can cause incorrect display of the image. To address this issue, developers are experimenting with a variety of conductive materials, including chrome, opaque, but has a better conductivity current.
