Cannot adjust voltage of GIGABYTE Radeon HD 6850

I have problem with my Graphics card and the problem is about adjusting the voltage which is not possible in any manner. No matter what I do and what BIOS or utility use I simply not able to adjust or increase the voltage of the graphic card. I own a Gigabyte HD6850 OC.

MSI's Afterburner is used for this. Since the Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 "Wind Force" is not factory overclocked, the card should have large reserves of OC. In a default voltage of 1.149 V, the GPU clock of 775 can raise to proper 940MHz, which is an increase of 21.3%. The memory can be from 2.000MHz to 2.400MHz overclock. This represents an increase of 20.0%.

With the ability to adjust the voltage of the GPU, allows the GPU clock rate of increase even further. With a slight voltage increase to a maximum of 1.2 V was 970MHz is possible. Since raising the voltage of the memory is not allowed, the maximum stable clock remained at 2.400MHz. A further increase in voltage from 0.5 V to 1.25 V allowed a maximum of 1.000MHz. Compared with the normal 775MHz the Radeon HD 6850 "Wind Force", this represents a remarkable increase of 29.0%. Further increases in voltage were unfortunately unsuccessful. The card could not be continued, despite a higher voltage overclocks.

The Radeon HD 6850 from Gigabyte is lying on the same level as all the reference cards. Nevertheless, it is possible to elicit the card is a decent performance via overclocking. With the default voltage of 1.149 V maximum 940/2.400MHz were possible. 1.000MHz, the limit could be broken with a voltage increase to 1.25V.

It seems to me that the current BIOS version which you have installed on the motherboard is not compatible with that graphics card and due to this you are not allowed to change the voltage in any manner. First of all check that whether there is any separate utility for overclocking like MSI's Afterburner. If yes, then it should possible for you to change the voltage with that software only. I heard that now the Gigabyte motherboard BIOS comes with GUI and along with this there might be possibility the integration if other things for easy and quick overclocking.

Re: Cannot adjust voltage of GIGABYTE Radeon HD 6850

Due to the low voltage of 1.149 V offers the Gigabyte Radeon HD 6850 "Wind Force" limited undervolting potential. Thus, for lowering the voltage to 1.024 V of the GPU. In practice, the lower voltage is achieved by a reduction in power consumption. Consuming as the test system with adjusted operating voltage in the game 232 watts - 12 watts less than the standard voltage of 1.149 V. However, the potential can vary from item to item.
