Is GTX 570 compatible with 730 watt PSU?

I intend to buy a GTX 570 as I hear it's a superb card, and I'm wondering if my 730watt RX-730SS (some suggest it's a bad psu) will be a sufficient enough PSU to handle it. Advice is of course, appreciated.

My PC's recent configuration are as follows:

    • AMD Athlon (tm) II X4 645 Processor 3.10ghz
    • RAM 8.00 GIG
    • 64bit Operating System
    • 730watt PSU
    • Gtx 260 (Current card)

Yes it is plenty powerful enough. I have much more power hungry system then yours with a 600 watt PSU. So I have an idea about it, I think you will be ok with it. And before the PSU I have now I was powering my system with a 40 dollar Logisys 600 watt PSU. Your PSU is fine and well above the wattage you need for a GTX 570 which actually uses a bit less power than the GTX 480.

If you plan on running SLI down the road you will definitely want to get a better PSU but for a single card system that PSU is fine. My PSU only has 576 watts on the 12v rail. My GTX 480 and my CPU are both heavily overclocked and my PSU powers it perfectly fine. Also you can get great deals on the GTX 480 now. I only paid 250 dollars for mine used about 4-5 months ago and I am very happy I did. I've seen them go for as low as 200 dollars on ebay. So that is definitely worth looking into.

GTX 480-250 watts -Core i5 760- 95 watts=365 watts PSU is more than you requirement. If you follow your decision then you may damage your system. There is no need to spend 100 dollars on a 1000 watt PSU to power 330 Watts of volt. According to me your overclocking is fine including the PSU. Considering his system, even loaded while playing with a load of 100 percent of CPU + GPU load 100, which would never happen. Worst case with a GTX 570 would be 314 watts.

Just have a look at the amount of energy is measured with this graphics card installed. The methodology is that we have a device frequently monitoring the power expenditure of the PC. Just to stress the GPU, not the processor. Power before and after more or less tell us how much power a graphics card under load consumes. Our test system is based on a power hungry Core i7 965 / X58 system. This configuration is overclocked to 3.75 GHz alongside this we have energy-saving functions disabled on this board and processor (to ensure consistent results of reference). On average we use about 50 to 100 watts over a standard PC because of higher clock settings of the CPU water-cooling, cold cathode extra lights, etc.

Keep this in mind. Our regular power consumption of the system is greater than the system average.

    Measured power consumption

    • System in IDLE = 181W
    • System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = 369W
    • Difference (GPU load) = 188W
    • Add average IDLE wattage ~ 25W
    • Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 213 Watts

730w power supply would be 570 in SLI decade even. Do not listen to people telling you that you need more, why not. Although it is certainly going to run SLI, you might want to get a 800w mainly because most of the PSUs that do not have enough lines 08/06 pin PCIE to run a multi GPU setup. Normally I would agree, but its power supply (type unknown brand) would not take the risk
