    Radeon 6770M 2GB vs 1GB

HP has lastly upgraded quad core Pavilion toward a 1920x1080 display that shifted it to my class of notebooks worth considering (Earlier it was just 1366x768 that is stupid for that type of machine). Together through that upgrade, they as well got a little new functionality that has choice for upgrading the GPU as of a 6770M through 1GB to a 6770M through 2GB for $50. Please tell me that if this worthwhile to upgrade it.

There have been no tests of cards that differ only in memory and there is a noticeable difference in some games with 2 GB (especially if you put anti-aliasing), it will be the case with the 6770M? The desktop 5870 is almost four times the processing power and nearly 3 times the bandwidth of memory, so I'm somewhat skeptical about the potential use of the 6770M, 2 GB even completely.

If you are receiving the 1080 screen can also get the 2 GB just in case because they have a higher resolution and newer games like The Witcher 2 make use of any ram you have. If it was just resolution of 1366x768 then 1GB is okay. If I'm incorrect, but a card like this would not even be able to draw up to 2 GB of RAM anyhow. I'm not even sure that the 6970M needs of both. It is as embedded chips that are advertised to allocate some huge amount of memory if necessary, but it would be impossible because of their architecture just make them terribly underpowered.

I think 1 GB is the "sweet spot", yet through a elevated concert GPU. There are diminishing returns higher than 1 GB except you are running a higher resolution than 1920x1200. So that's where SLI or Xfire come in general, to get the most benefit. Mobile GPU 2GB is overkill. My GTX 485 m, which is really the top end mobile GPU at the time, still cannot use their full 2 GB.

    Re: Radeon 6770M 2GB vs 1GB

I have a 5760x1080 setting on my desktop with 2GB of video RAM only, and I can handle almost everything to the fullest. A 6770 mobile run out of juice long previous to it runs out of memory. Just above 1 GB is a waste of money. The type of advice you give is why companies place those stupid amounts of VRAM on your system, since they know that somebody will consider is best. 2 GB of VRAM with this chip is as helpful as a spoiler for a Honda Civic. Not actually perform anything, just costs additional for that.
