Currently I am using the 8600GT for my PhysX card, and I believe that is concerning least. At a few point I will be updating to a latest Fermi plus plan to make use of my GTX 260 intended for PhysX. I'm assuming this sub-forum will ultimately be a position for PhysX users in the direction of post their outcome using a few kind of normal techdemo otherwise benchmark. Depending on the Vantages #2 processor Test (an experiment for PhysX) my GTX 260 scores on 3 times operations/s since my 8600GT. I lately interpret an old-fashioned thread evaluating GPU's by the use of the Cryostasis TechDemo, and the 8800GT, 9800GTX, as well as the GTX 260 all scored in relation to the equal. So I think that the GTX 590 would be enough for this.

I have been informed that a committed physx card must have concerning 1/2 as lot of stream CPUs like your video GPU. Utilizing an 8600gt many essentially reduce the performance you would obtain from employing simply the 590. The GTX590 is physically powerful a sufficient amount. From the time when you were bearing in mind quad-sli anyhow:
    • 8600GT is not required
    • Your Rampage 3 Black Edition will not suite a third graphics card devoid of overpowering one more card.

Since the acquisition of AGEIA PhysX by Nvidia, the special cards that additional physical effects could perform calculations and to increase the realism in games has slowly replaced by Nvidia's CUDA technology. Nowadays all modern nVidia cards than nVidia also supported in the graphics drivers to the effects partly through the graphics processor (GPU) and via the processor (CPU) to run.

As for the power system, the figure in the case of the GeForce GTX 590 was not the best. Yes, the test stand with a set accelerator GeForce GTX 590 in games consumes significantly less than the same stand with a pair of GTX 580 in SLI, however, to the level of energy competitor still falls short. Note that a system with an accelerated version of the Radeon HD 6990 consumes about 20 watts PC with the GeForce GTX 590, and system power with the standard version Radeon HD 6990 by as much as 50 watts lower than that of machine based on the GTX 590. Well, it all becomes clear by comparison. If the background of GTX 580 and Radeon HD 6970 Radeon HD 6990 accelerator seemed extremely voracious, the arrival of GeForce GTX 590 AMD dual-chip monster does not look too scary.

3DMark Vantage test suite shows us a rough balance of power in DirectX 10 applications. Accelerator GeForce GTX 590 takes an intermediate position between the standard and accelerated versions of the Radeon HD 6990 and, as expected, due to lower clock speeds significantly below SLI-tandem from the GeForce GTX 580. Due to the slight acceleration, GeForce GTX 590 can bypass the expedited version of the Radeon HD 6990, but before the performance GeForce GTX 580 SLI is still far away.

It now appears that the support of the Special Physics Processor Unit (PPU) of the Ageia PhysX driver has been terminated since the 8.xx.xx drivers. No longer has support the card seemed a logical choice, since the original Ageia PhysX cards for some time are no longer available and faster alternatives in the form of an entry-level NVIDIA graphics card in stock and economical. The original Ageia PhysX cards include BFG and ASUS were launched in 2006 and made use of a PCI interface, a dedicated GPU chip and 128 MB of GDDR3 memory to be able to perform the calculations.
