Dell U2711 monitor gives low resolution with ATI 6950 and windows 7 Pro X6

Hello friends I have brought this new Dell U2711 monitor for making it to use along with my system so as to project the screen on it and I am making use of the Dual link DVI-D cable to connect to the Dell monitor. On my system, I am running Windows 7 and having ATI 6950 graphics card installed on my system, but when I connect the monitor with my system, I find that I am getting only 1920x1080 where as the monitor is designed to 2560x1440 as a maximum resolution, so can someone help me to know that what should I do to get it correct.

Have you got the correct drivers installed on your system, as I think that there could be a possibility that you might not be having the latest drivers that will help to get the best resolution with the screen that is your Dell Monitor. What I think that you should once a while update the drivers and then see if you could be able to get some more resolution with the monitor, I hope that this will solve the issue.

Check the settings of the resolution of the system that is you will have to right click on the system and go to properties and from thee you will have to select the maximum resolution as possible so that the screen can adjust to its setting. Since you are making use as a secondary device so what I think that there is a possibility that the screen is making use of the previous monitor for the resolution and so you are getting very low resolution.

I have tried to change the settings of the display from the display properties where I have gone through right click on the monitor screen. I have increased the resolution of the screen from the minimum that was there to the maximum but still it was of no use I am constantly getting low resolution for only about 1920x1080 where as I am desired for much more, so can someone help me to know that what is the problem.

Dude you will have to go the display manger from the icon of the graphics driver that comes at the system tray and will have change the settings from there. Since if your are not able to get the screen to get the highest resolution so what I think that there could be some kind of a problem with the internal settings of the driver, so click on that icon go inside the display manger and then see if any changes to the settings does the work for you.
