    Should I change to HD5870 2GB from HD 6970?

Friends, I have purchased the HD 6970 previous week. That was for about $360 and now Egg has the 5870 2GB and that is around $179 once rebate. I just want to ask you people that should I return 6970 and purchase 5870 2GB? I play games on 22" 1680 x 1050. The cost dissimilarity is enormous and the performance is approximately similar. In addition to that they both contain 2GB of ram. I also like power expenditure of the 5870 2GB a lot. Can you please provide your opinion regarding this? I don't actually care regarding future gaming for the reason that I upgrade my cards while I require extra power anyways.

I would like to tell you that there is no game which needs 2 GB of video memory at 1680x1050 resolution. As far as I know that this is practical so it will be fine for you to be with 1 GB card. It will not create any problem for you while playing the game. It is just my suggestion to you and choice is yours. You can go for the thing that you want. Thank you.

2GB of RAM means jack intended for 1680x1050. If you are going to "bang-for-your-buck," the ~$230 deals are not bad to go, particularly because they be able to overclocked. The 5870 meant for $180 is a good deal although. For ~$180 less you will drop possibly 5-10% performance on standard. The 5850 as well as 5870 are high-end and that were replaced through the 6950 as well as the 6970, in that order. The 5750 plus 5770, previous generations midrange, were restored by the 6850 with 6870, correspondingly. The number plan was shifted up to permit room in favor of additional parts.

I did a search on internet and found that the HD6870 is having more price now, 4 months subsequent to its release, as compared to the HD5830 that did on launch. This should propose the market it is pointing at. The HD6 sequence was designed to unswervingly substitute its HD5-gen counterparts, not develop upon their presentation, through the exclusion of the HD6970 that replaces HD5890. The HD5750 as well as HD5770 stay within production for the reason that they are still within the product lineup nowadays.

The 5830 is no longer on auction anyplace and the 5850/5870, that were reference-driven products are at present found approximately within non-reference form by means of prices that are unstable all over place, ticking every the boxes intended for an end of line product that is now in its last stock clearing phase. This doesn't denote that the 5850/5870 are not significance to purchase as the wildly varying prices shows you can locate some enormous deals on occasions. It's just significant to be cautious of the non-reference crop which is out there like non-reference cards within the bulk of cases are less dependable as compared to the reference AMD designs, particularly from lower superiority brands. The HD5750 is indeed abruptly due for substitute I believe, as its price tier has currently merged by way of HD5770, creating 5750 a totally worthless purchase. That performance division may well be deserted, like nvidia have not actually filled it moreover.

I would still consider the 5770 midrange. They have just lower within the midrange scale at this time than before. HD6850 shows the upper end for the midrange, the HD6870 the base end of the high-end, by means of the HD6950/6970 filling out the center as well as superior sections. Top of top end will be kept for dual GPU cards. The low-end is at a halt filled out through the HD5670 (high), 5570 (mid) plus 5450 (low).
