MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin Frozr II - Performance

I am here to get some information about the performance of MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin Frozr II. Since this is new video card, very less people are having knowledge about it. So I thought that there would be someone from your side who can provide some information about it. In the last month, in the 200-euro price segment done a lot. So, if I purchase and then got some drawback in performance, that would be really very bad for me. So thought to take out information before buying it. And this is the best place to take some notes.. Please provide some necessary information.

Nvidia has not long to wait, however, leaving the GeForce GTX 460 fall in the price and then chosen to replace the GeForce GTX 470th What works in theory is quite good, but practically one big disadvantage: The reference design of the 470 is quite simply much too loud. Dealing with them create their own designs, the manufacturer, of which there are now well a handful. These cost a bit more, but do it to reduce the noise to a tolerable level. We have seen the GeForce GTX 470 Twin II Frozr of MSI in more detail, which would put an end to the noise. MSI has a total of two different variants of the GeForce GTX 470 in their portfolio:
    • MSI GeForce GTX 470: reference design, standard clock speeds, 1,280 MB
    • MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin Frozr II: Own design, standard clock speeds, 1,280 MB

Re: MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin Frozr II - Performance

Since the MSI GeForce GTX 470 sends Frozr Twin II with the standard clock speeds at the start, the graphics card runs just as fast as the reference design from Nvidia. For this reason we have decided to, not the MSI card separately to form in the benchmark. Thus, the GeForce GTX 470 at 1920x1200 is in the selected games by an average of two percent from the Radeon HD 6870 and at eight percent behind the Radeon HD 5870.

On Windows, has been the reference design of the GeForce GTX 470 in terms of volume not a problem, but the MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin sets Frozr II one more. At 41 decibels the graphics card from a sealed enclosure is not out of place. Under load the standard model then literally exploded, while the twin Frozr II development is still pleasantly quiet. 47 decibels is the result, which grabs the 3D accelerator a place in the sun. So that the fans are very audible, which during the game but noticeable negative at any time. Concerning the temperatures need to purchase the MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin II Frozr no thoughts to be made. On Windows, we measured 39 degrees Celsius and under load more than 72 degrees Celsius. Thus, the cooling system itself for warm summer days has sufficient reserves.

Since the MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin Frozr II (apart from the radiator) completely relies on the standard model, we have a similar power consumption as calculated in the reference design. And it comes with Windows including: With 182 watts (meaning the entire PC) is the 3D accelerator exactly 470th on the level of an ordinary GeForce GTX Under load the MSI development with 369 watts is a little less power hungry, for the reference design comes to 383 watts. For the product to reach but still nowhere near the regions of comparable AMD cards. Our MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin II Frozr can overclock well. The TMU domain makes with a gain of 144 MHz, the shader units even 287 MHz. The 1280 MB of GDDR5 memory is a much more cautious, as occur with greater frequency as 1776 MHz (102 MHz) first graphic errors. The power rises so depending on the application 14 to 16 percent.

In overclocked mode treats itself to the graphics card 25 watts out of power line at a higher volume by 5.5 decibels. The GPU temperature rises by five degrees Celsius. The GPU voltage is the usual .937 volts. The MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin Frozr II is superior to the reference design, but this also is not difficult. The reason is not to be found in the Performance, as here, the manufacturer shall follow the provisions of Nvidia. The advantage of the twin-Frozr-II card is found in the installed cooling system that is vastly superior in all aspects of the standard version. On Windows, the graphics card is whisper quiet and under load, the fan is indeed audible, but still pleasant. The reference design on the other hand, in the scenario to "Party volume". At the same time, the temperatures are lower, because under load, the GeForce GTX 470 Twin II Frozr is not warmer than 72 degrees Celsius, while the reference design easily crack the 90-degree mark. In terms of power consumption on the other hand, there are only a small improvement in 3D mode by about 15 watts. Nevertheless, the appetite for energy is still very high.

Re: MSI GeForce GTX 470 Twin Frozr II - Performance

The volume, the temperatures and in the conditional framework does the power of the GeForce GTX 470 Twin II Frozr MSI are much better managed than the reference design. Because it interferes very little that the manufacturer has not increased the performance. It is a catch but then: with around 250 euros is the 3D-accelerator about 50 € more expensive than a normal variant. Thus, the charge is steep, but the end product better without a doubt a good deal. Therefore, we recommend GeForce GTX 470-interested at the end of the MSI card - the ears will thank one. It should be noted, however, that there are now some Radeon HD 5870 cards for the same price, the higher speed and better power consumption to offer - go for it but louder to the point. The purchasing decision should be taken after weighing up the volume.
