    Red Vs Green Solo Setup

I was reading about the Galaxy GTX 460 and the Radeon HD 5850 and found that Green has advantage over the Red one. This is also because if they are used in SLI or XFire. Now I want to know what would be the scenario in case of the single card. Which one out of these 2 cards will perform better? Please let me know. Thanks.

It totally depends on you. What do you want? If you want to have only performance then you can go for Radeon HD 5850 and say that Red has dominated the fight. If you are talking about the price/performance then Galaxy GTX 460 is the right option and similarly Green dominated the contest. From my side I will say that Galaxy GTX 460 is the better one in any field. Hope that you liked the suggestion.

Of-course Galaxy GTX 460 is the better one. I love some of the features of the Galaxy GTX 460. At maximum load it is cool and at the same time silent. The power consumption of this stuff is less. It can be easily overclocked. In such a low price to see this kind of performance is appreciable. Any other card at this rate can not even touch the performance level of the card.

If you all really want to see the real ability of the Galaxy GTX 460, then you should try overclocking it. Now-a-days overclocking GPU is very easy, you just need to move a slider. If a stable overclocking is needed a few more efforts is required to be taken to find the optimum point. Most GTX 460 I think will hit between 800-850 MHz

Yes it won't be false if I say that 5850 is faster than GTX 460. On the sane note it is bit expensive to. Regarding the Overclock, as long as suitable modles are available they both can be overclocked. GTX 460 can go to 5850 is faster than a GTX460 if you have the extra money to spend. As long as you get a decent model they can both be overclocked so that point is rather meaningless. My stock GTX460 happily went to 850MHz without touching voltage, but likewise you'll be able to push a 5850 up a bit without too much worry.

GTX 460's aren't as good for higher resolutions. Look at the performance chart here and you see it starts to fall behind more and more at higher and higher resolutions, against a HD5850. This is even more true for the 768MB version of the GTX 460.

Also, HD5850s are also good overclockers so you could overclock both of them. It's pointless to compare an overclocked 460 against a stock 5850, because the stock 5850 can simply re-widen its lead with its own oc.
