AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Update for Windows 7

I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor and I would like to replace it with a new more powerful. Initially i have been using the windows vista operating system on my desktop but recently i have installed the windows 7. Hence i am looking for an update for windows 7. since the CPU is now consuming about 95% of my CPU. Please tell me how to go about the are there some update available as when i was using the windows XP system Thank you in advance
