ATI HD 4850 Mobility on 27 inch iMac

    Hi,
I want to buy a iMac system. The one which I found on internet is 27" and a 24" one. But I found that the 27 inch mac has TI HD 4850 Mobility GPU which reduces the chances of GPU upgrade in future. There is much talk of new quad core processors, but what about graphics cards. Will it powerful enough to properly support a resolution of 2560 x 1440.

The 24 inch iMac desktop gives you the option to get an 7600 GT card on your system. It uses a MXM mobile chip socket in it which is desktop chip. You can at the time of purchase can look for the upgrade. You can also change the graphic configuration. For the 4850 thing I will also not go with the same. It is quiet a old support which may not work properly on the new games.

You can search for the benchmarks in gaming which will give you the appropriate solution in working of graphics on iMac. I too realize that there might be less solution on Mac systems to upgrade a GPU support but you can go for a much newer models in that case. Or else it will be better if you go for a gaming pc support which can cost you between $500 to $600.

It is correct that there is a mobility support on the new iMac system on which there is a bit delay. But there are possibilities of upgrade in some less manner. I had check some games on the same where the temperature indicates 40 degree on the highest gameplay. That goes to mostly 60 and drops down. You must look out for more better solutions in case of gaming needs.

The iMac is equipped with Core 2 Duo processor. But now the 27 inch is offering a 3.06Ghz speed which is higher than 13 inch I was working on. This is a big jump really. I am not sure about the GPU thing. That is a bit lower which is well suitable for multimedia display like movies, etc. A bit of gaming can also be enjoyed. Or else other things are fine in the system.

iMac is quiet a nice desktop sysetm. The 27-inch iMac' can provide you a 2560 x 1440 pixels display. So this new gives you a high end LCD display. There is lot of work done on the display. For connection you will get a 1 FireWire 800, 4 USB 2.0, 1 SD Card Reader, A mini DisplayPort, 1 RJ45, 2 optical mini jacks (1 input and 1 output). The main concerns lack video inputs . The nice 27-inch screen makes you want to connect a DSL box or console TV.

The mobility card gets heated in some cases. A tit bit of overclocking can harm it more. You can enjoy the system for multimedia output. The GPU support enough gaming and you can even run Windows on the same. The Radeon HD 4850, available at a additional cost. For comparison with a portable gamer in which we have recently crossed in this case the MSI GT725, the number of pixels to process is more than twice as high.
