    HD 5850 Voltage question

Hi to all, I have just bought a new XFX HD5850 yesterday and i am using windows vista on my computer system. I have installed an Afterburner on this system by using which i have increased the voltage to 1.15, I am running at 850MHz Core and 1125MHz Mem. Currently i am using AMD GPU Clock tool to overclock with but want to ask you guys that what would be the safe voltage on stock coolers.

I think the XFX Radeon HD 5850 is hardware protected and i guess it would not be possible to raise the voltage to high but still you must wait for some more replies as i do not have exact ideas about it and it might happen that you would fine some other option foe which you have posted this thread.

Until and unless you are using any aftermarket cooler or liquid, changing the voltage might not show you any better result. I guess 15mhz core would be equal to the 1FPS approximately. 5850 or 5870 or 5890 are all made on the basis of same core so it must be safe up to the HD 5870 voltage level. But make sure that system has perfect cooling system.

If you want to fully unlock the frequencies then you need to lash the video card BIOS. I would like to inform you that an overclocking headroom would be limited up to some extent in the CCC. You should just watch out the temperatures and try that it does not go beyond 75 C or 80 C. I suggest you to run the xtreme burn in order to check the maximum heat check.

Actually the maximum CCC settings are resoluted by the manufacturer's BIOS. I should give you the example of my own as i have sapphire 5850 for which the maximum clock is 775 core and 1125 memory. I guess you should not be messing with the voltages much as it might make your card functioning in wrong senses.
