So first let us know which configuration your system is running. Anyways it seems to have the issue of the graphic driver which is not responding properly with the Windows 7.

As you are using the nVidia Geforce 310m, let me tell you that this Graphic card is not compatible with the Windows 7. There are no driver yet introduced to run this card on Windows 7. So you have to wait till the nVidia will release the update for nVidia Geforce 310m driver to support the Windows 7. As it is expected that the nVidia will release the update for whole 300 series to run on Windows 7.

If you are using the Nvidia Geforce 310m for the Windows 7 then let me tell you that this device support only in windows XP and do not work with the Windows 7. So you have to look for the driver which will show the compatibility with Windows 7. Search for compatible driver on the manufacturer site and download the same.
