Monitor Goes Black

Since yesterday, my monitor has been going black. It will still be turned on (so there is power), and my computer is otherwise fine. It's just that the screen is black. I find that if I unplug and then replug the power cable, the screen will come back (but again, the monitor never turns off, it just goes dark).

I'm not sure what is causing it. I've cleaned away all the dust and it still shuts off. Admittedly, I turn my monitor on and off several times a day, so I'm wondering if I've somehow "burnt" out my video card. I also noticed that for the past two months, my cursor will randomly freeze, and I have to hit ctrl+alt+del and/or unplug and then replug my mouse to get it moving again.

Does the blacking out have anything to do with my video card, and if so, could one of the reasons be that I turn my monitor on and off? Is the cursor issue also related?

I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks!

the only probable problem which seems to me is ur power supply
make sure ur power supply is enough to handle all ur components easily

I plugged in my monitor directly into the wall so that it wasn't sharing in a surge protector. Still the same problem. Tomorrow I'm going to see if I can buy a new adaptor (is that what it's called) to connect the monitor to a power source. I'm hoping that's the problem because if it's not, it's an issue with my computer.
