GTX 260 216 Won't Let PC to Boot.!?

I have just installed the GeForce GTX 260 Core 216, so that I can play the advanced games properly. But after installing the drivers, my PC restarted and now I am not able to boot. The Windows XP boot screen appears and then suddenly the monitor goes blank. The LED of CD drive glows but the monitor is blank. I can boot properly in the Safe mode. Can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot this problem.?? Please help soon.!!

I think that the drivers you installed for the Graphics card has created the problem. If you are able to go safe mode, then try to uninstall the drivers and check whether you can boot normally. By doing this, if you are able to boot then the driver that you installed might had conflicted with some other. Hope that uninstalling the driver from the safe mode will resolve your issue.

Were you using any other graphic card before.?? If Yes, then try to remove the drivers installed for that graphic card. Because installing the drivers when the older drivers are existing might cause an issue similar to this. So I would like to recommend you to uninstall the drivers for the first graphic card and then only install the new drivers for GTX 260 216.

Can you see the graphic card in your Device Manager. If you cannot see the card over there, that means you have not configured the card properly (or card is damaged - rare chances). Then try to configure the card correctly. If you can see the card in display but with the Yellow question mark, then the drivers of graphic card are not installed. Try to install the latest driver for graphic card having OS as Windows XP.

If you are having the Internet Connection, then try this method to install the latest driver :

    1. Right Click on the "My Computer" icon placed on the desktop.
    2. Then select the Manage option.
    3. In manage option, click on the Device Manager.
    4. You will able to see the drivers installed for the Graphic card in the right side.
    5. Right click on the graphic driver and select the option Update.
    6. Now follow the instructions and select the Internet Option to search the appropriate driver.

By doing this, the OS will download the best driver for the graphic card. Hope that your problem will be solved after doing this.

The monitor goes blank, it sounds that your monitor is running out of spec. Reconfiguring and reinstalling the graphic card and the driver will solve this problem. While reconfiguring follow the steps that are described in the manual. Also check that your mother board supports that specific graphic card. Many times old mother board doesn't support the latest graphic card. Make sure that your mother board supports the GeForce GTX 260.
