Sapphire Radeon HD 4650 graphics card black screen

I recently upgraded my graphics card to Sapphire Radeon HD 4650 but it is not working properly. When i play high graphics game or open any graphics based application my computer hangs and it shows black screen. Sometimes my display goes black and i receive no start up sounds. Does anybody have a clue what the problem is?

Have you tried leaving the new Sapphire Radeon HD 4650 graphics card out and trying the onboard/integrated graphics?perhaps your BIOS needs set to run the new graphics card and also make sure you update the graphic card drivers from the manufacturer site.

Have you disabled the onboard video card? Maybe try uninstalling the radeon hd 4650 before re-starting the machine or Does the card work in a different machine? If not, then I suspect the worst. Is your power supply able to provide enough current? Is the card is seated properly? Try to boot with NO graphics card AND onboard turned OFF, do you get any beeps?

Can you get into the BIOS with your old card (or onboard) and see if there are any options relevant to using your PCI card instead of say, the onboard graphics controller? Have you tried another PCI slot? Or possibly have another machine you could try the radeon hd 4650 card in?

Windows is using a standard driver for your card. You need to install the specific drivers for your radeon hd 4650 video card to be able to change settings.

Re: Sapphire Radeon HD 4650 graphics card black screen

Your black screen issue sounds like a setting problem, probably your onboard video and new radeon hd 4650 card are trying to work together (not a good thing), you will probably just have to disable the onboard video so your new radeon hd 4650 card will get detected properly. you may have to remove the new radeon hd 4650 card and use your onboard video to change some settings.
