laptop screen does not go beyond 800x600

Hey, I am now with a Samsung SyncMaster 940mw.

I've switched my monitor to my laptop - my screen is too small and dirty - but I only get a 800x600 background image or they will be on standby. Note: It worked more than perfect for this state. What do I do wrong?

You might think that your laptop has detected that the display and can handle more than 800 * 600, but that your laptop can not display more than 800 * 600 out (although it sounds strange that it can not cope with more).

Puts you right up to the max resolution, or have you ever tried to take it step-by-step to see how much it goes off?

It sounds like the video drivers did not install properly (or are not installed at all. How many colors can you choose from. If it is only 256 then the video card drivers are not installed).

Remove (will be in Add/Remove programs, possibly) and reinstall the drivers.

If you are still having problems, post the motherboard information (or make and model if this is a pre-built computer like HP, Dell, etc) and which OS you are running and we can try to help you from there.

Depend on monitor resolution. My 15' laptop screen monitor can only support 800x600. 1024x 768 can be supported but it's not suitable for me.
