    Crackling on GeForce 8800GTS 320

I have my graphics card that emits strange noises at times (especially with large loads). I had it sometimes but not very strong in some games that take a lot like Far Cry, Crysis ... good but nothing to worry about

Yesterday I wanted to test "the last remnant" and after few minutes it started to make a really disturbing noise, a crackling (not a hiss as it is often), well on the pc froze and I reset

So I think obviously overheating of a component, but good if someone could confirm and can be a solution

    My config: AMD X2 6000
2 GB ram Corsair XMS 2
    K9N SLI Platinum
    PSU 550W

This could come from power supply. What model of a brand? Also have you overclocked your card by chance?

The crackling is usually a problem of coil. When a coil is defective (insulation around the thread), it is that there is short circuit, or at least small spark, hence the crackling.

By whistling have anything against abnormal is also due to roll, or of poor quality due to poor circuit design.

Of the 8800 GTS there are 4-5 (depending on the version)

No, I did not overclocked. I finally reinstalled the game, I put the graphics to the bottom (it was by default, so just half) and there I was more noise, everything runs well ... not crash anything

Finally, I personally think it's the graphics card which is very heated, and the thermal paste that has "boiled", if it so, that I think need to change.

Not necessarily, false if the contact is very light, it causes disruption at the level of voltage, or perhaps your crash, but not yet significant enough to make it totally HS at the moment.
