Crossfire HD 3870 and HD 4850 possible

Hello,

I just bought an ATI HD 4850 512 MB for € 89.16. I already have a HD 3870 512 MB and would like to know if it is possible to link via a crossfire or not? If so, the performance gain is significant or is it better that I resell HD 3870 as I can still learn something?

HD 4850 has a slight advantage over the HD 3870 Crossfire overall. But i am unsure about running the HD3870 CF x8 makes a big difference over the HD 4850 at x16. Everything I have found so far assumes a Crossfire running at x16+x16.

There is a tough competition between HD 4850 and 3870 Crossfire. Performance but the HD 4850 doesn't have to deal with crossfire issues, poor AA, and higher power consumption. Two 3870's take more power than 1 HD 4850.

The x2 3870's would be slightly slower due to pcie x8.4850 is going to be slightly cheaper than 2x3870 and give you less trouble since it's a single card.

If you already have 1 Radeon HD 3870 then buying another Radeon HD 3870 and Crossfire them which would save you money
