    Performance loss GTX285 PCI-E 8x?

    Hello,
i have Asus P5Q-E with GTX285 2GB, Since the motherboard does not have two-lane x16 support, but both cards with PCI-express 8x bind, I wanted to ask how much the loss of performance if GTX 285 individually connected via PCI-Express x16.Any recommendations and suggestions are appreciated.

Since it is PCIe 2.0 slots, it should not be the collapse of relevance, especially since your card is also 2GB memory.

    hi,
turn on the old thing away, the calculation makes The 285 in passing.

So besides my SLI also runs 16 / 8 and zero loss to 16/16.

Sure that GTX285 running only with 8-lane,I think in the manual but not the 1 st PCXe16 to 8-lane left behind when a 2 nd Card uses.

Textures that do not fit in the VRAM, must have the PCIe interface from the main memory. This does not apply to a video card with 2 GB of VRAM, because no game with so much memory. The geometry data that the CPU or the second graphics card (PhysX) has pre-processed, but must remain on the PCIe interface. And of course this amount of data is manageable.

If you have a little time, you can indeed make the comparison:
    • Non-PhysX application (eg GTA IV): GTX 285 on PCIe x16, 8800 GT is not built
    • Non-PhysX application (eg GTA IV): the two cards and built-in PCIe x8
    • PhysX application (eg Cryostasis): GTX 285 on PCIe x16, 8800 GT is not built
    • PhysX application (eg Cryostasis): both cards and built-in PCIe x8
