AMD's Radeon HD 4770 Specs Revealed

AMD is actually about to launch the ATI Radeon HD 4770 incorporating the new chip RV740, according to Chinese internet site that would have put his hand on his final specifications. Reflecting the large form of AMD, the launch to succeed just as the Radeon HD 4890 high-end, which would be scheduled for April 4, only two days later.

By providing a power of 960 gigaflop, the ATI Radeon HD 4770 to replace the Radeon HD 4830 and offer performance similar to the Radeon HD 4850, which have respectively 740 and 1 000 gigaflop. The GPU of the Radeon HD 4770 is clocked at 750 MHz and have 640 units of calculation and 32 texture units. It would also be equipped with 512 MB of GDDR5 memory on 128-bit operating at 800 MHz. More powerful on paper than its predecessor, but it consumes 80 watts, 30 watts or less.

Competes with the NVIDIA GeForce GTS 240 (formerly known as GeForce 9600 GT), the AMD Radeon HD 4770 is expected to be May 4 at the retail price of $ 100.

Designed to take the place of Radeon HD 4830, Radeon HD 4770 also features 640 stream processors. But the memory interface has been slashed from 256bit to 128bit. However, AMD will ship it with high-speed GDDR5 memory, and core/memory clock of 750/800MHz, which makes it equally efficient as 3.2GHz DDR. Radeon HD 4770 will come with 826 million transistors, which means 130 million ones less than 956 million on Radeon HD 4830. Thanks to the 40nm manufacturing process, the power consumption has been reduced to 80W.
