Video Card Error NVLDDMKM.SYS

hi there

I was on my computer playing a game and i made a alt tab after pausing the game in order to go on the internet and the PC then crashed and came up with the an error NVLDDMKM.SYS

I have searched on google for answers but everything i am recieving back saying that it is with Nvidia drivers but it not only happens when playing games, but also when reading through Nvidia updated the driver which actually are causing the problem. and for most people it seemed to fix the problem. Although my problem is not when playing games this error message is appearing everytime as i boot my computer now.

Please help me regarding this problem

I had this issue with my nv cards tried many drivers beta you name it driver sweeper was used deleting nvlddmkm.sys files the lot...

In they end I found out what it was, something which os often overlooked. UPDATE YOUR SOUND CARD DRIVERS PROBLEM SOLVED FOR ME!!

i get this quite a bit at work. the potential fixes for this that i know are simply to uninstall and reinstall/update the driver through safe mode.

if this doesn't work, then reformat. that will usually solve the issue for anywhere between a few hours to a few weeks before the issue returns.

other than that, it's to swap out the video card. i don't know anything else to do other than that.

what have you guys done to solve this issue other than what i've already said?

Interesting ive seen this issue quite often with 8800 ultras in SLI and even an 8800 ultra in single card mode, it crops up occassionally.

I have yet to see it with a 8800 GTS in single or SLI.

Quite what this means, I dont know, there are far too many variables, however it is something ive been looking into myself on a few systems recently trying to find a single source point, nothing concrete yet. However one of my working theories is that the ultras are "right on the edge" so whatever is causing the error in general is more evident.

If that doesn't work download PC Wizard from my sig and go to:

FILE / SAVE AS

[name of file] on your desktop (save it as is to your desktop)

then open the file and copy the text in this thread and copy the lable on the side of you Power Supply Unit (yes open the case) to me.

I am getting this same error msg. I can have my computer up and running for days without any trouble but as soon as I start gaming, about maybe 30 minutes in I will get this error msg. I am running Windows 7 on a 790i motherboard with two 9800 GT's SLI. I myself have came to the conclusion that its a cooling issue, but its hard to say exactly. Hell I have 7 case fans and was about to install 3 more internally over the PCI slot area. If that can be avoided it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok yeah its a heating issue, I figured as much when it was running fine and then I installed a PCI card into every PCI slot available and started to get this error msg. But I did find this and it fits.

your nVidia driver for your video card (most likely) is crashing. Vista
can shut down the video driver and restart it without crashing your
system, but usually this is an issue with your video card overheating, or
the chips failing under load.

It's great that your system has been rock solid for ages, but now it's
not. My only thought is, "the reason chips have fans/heatsinks on them is
because when they get too hot they take damage, but even if you cool the
chips constantly, they still produce heat and still incur damage, just
not as quickly."

Try a different video card, or use your onboard card if your mobo has one
(Just for testing...) just pull the 8800 out of your system and reboot,
make sure you have updated drivers for the video card downloaded in case
you need them.
