    HD 4850 512mb or 1gb

    Hello,

    I will mount the following configuration (which you may notice):
    • Processor: Intel E7300 or E8400 (if I can find it at 90 €)
    • Motherboard: Asus P5Q-E
    • Hard Disk: Seagate 500GB 32MB cache
    • Ram: G.skill 2x2Go in PC6400


    which make of ATI HD 4850 card is more reliable and overall good performance for money ?
    Computer:

    Windows XP Professional
    Asus A8N-VM Socket 939 Motherboard with NForce 410
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.45ghz-Venice Core
    2x1024MB PC3200 Kingston Ram in Dual Channel
    ATI Radeon X800XL 256MB GDDR3,16 Pipelines overclocked to 442mhz/1080mhz
    Enermax 420W "Silent" Powersupply

    All ATI video cards are made by the same OEM. The OEM's own brandname is Sapphire. Look at the warranty and any extras that the brand names offer (like a different heatsink).I think I have been through this twice and rage has been through it about 10 times. Probably not with most games unless you're running a 24" monitor 1600x1200 resolution or higher. Unless you plan on playing crysis on full detail.

    1gb card provides smoother gameplay in games like far cry 2. If you have that much money, Nvidia seems to be better with lower resolutions.

    512mb vs 1gb will depend on your screen res and amount of AA you like to run - personally I would say that 512 is fine as the 4850 really needs more horsepower to run say a 1920x1200 screen properly
