Problem with Nvidia 8 series

i have just installed a nvidia 8500 GT, done evrything correctly yet i can
only change display properties. in cpanel/devicemanager i have a red cross next to the device. Under poperties i get Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). I also get an atk or htk error message when i reboot... Please help me guys!

On reboot i get the folowing error : "ATKFastUserSwitching Has Been Shut Down" Help me guys! I have not updated anything, i just installed on of my favourite game. Well i use Windows Vista Ultimate. Help guys!

Have you updated your Graphics driver? That must be done first. Go to nvidia official site and download the latest drivers for your graphics card. Click Here to go to official driver download site.

Are you sure installing the latest driver will help me get rid of my problem? Because i've heard windows vista crashes with certain updates and i don't want to take any chance, installing windows vista all over again would be the biggest nightmare. I'll try though..! Thanks

Updating drivers causing windows crash has very less reported till date, Windows crashing updates are now eliminated and bugless updates are available on the microsoft website. Try it out youreslf. All the best!
