24" Dell HD Monitor (S2409W) Problem

Hello I recently purchased the 24" Dell HD Monitor (S2409W). Now high def movies play fine and look great but for some reason when I play DVDs they kind of look choppy. I've never had that problem with the monitor I had before which was a 17" Gateway LCD (FPD1760). The DVDs played great on that one and were very clear. The video card I have is a Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS. Do i need to maybe upgrade that video card? What would be the problem with the DVD movies being choppy like that? I'm using the DVI cable to connect the monitor to my computer. With the Gateway I used to use the VGA cables. Do i need to maybe use the VGA cables instead of the DVI? Please someone help me. Thank you

I would prefer to once have a try with VGA cables and did you try to use your HD Monitor on another PC, if not have it check. Also there is no need for Changing the Garphic card. Please Check this link also for More issue.

Your DVD's video might not be of the higher resolution as of your monitor. because if it works fine with smaller screen it must be the issue of the resolution only. Also try to use VGA cable instead of DVI cable. Reply what happened k? All the best!

    hi,
Try to check with a new power supply, and a new video card, one of them solve the problem.

My friend said I should do that. Do you know what power supply would be compatible with my system and what video card would be compatible? I have a Gateway, it's a GT5238E.

300 watt power supply will be compatible if you have GT5238E Gateway. And it supports Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3000 up to 224MB DDR shared video memory.

Re: 24" Dell HD Monitor (S2409W) Problem

I have had my S2409w about 2 months. Since yesterday the monitor has periodically gone to a black screen with the,"cannot detect vga connection" message. The computer is still on! When I turn it (computer) off and boot it back up everything is normal for about 15-30 minutes and then same problem reoccurs. Any advice, similar experiences?
