question Radeon X1600 Pro 256mb AGP

i was looking for a agp card ,
    p4 - 2.93ghz , 1gb ddr ram, generic psu ..
needed an upgrade over my fx5200 128mb 64bit card ..

this (Radeon X1600 Pro 256mb AGP) is the one i have narrowed it down to ..
not too expensive , basic gaming and just overall better performance ..

will upgrade the whole system in a few months , so didnt want to get anything expensive (will get a pcie card later)

actually it was either x1600pro 256mb or 7300gt 512mb .. but some after some googling it looks like the min req for a 7300gt is 12v18A and the min for x1600pro is 12v15A-350W psu ..

so is x1600pro a better choice .. i know a 7600 beats a x1600 but i dont think it will be stable without getting a new psu ..

wanted to get some opinions on the card ..
is it good , will it be a problem switching from nvidia to ati .. will it last atleast 6 months and be a noticeable upgrade over a Fx5200

    thanks a lot

On paper the Radeon appears to have the edge since the 7300GT features just 8 pixel pipelines, 1 texture mapping unit and 4 vertex processing units. The GeForce 7300GT also only features a core clock frequency of 350MHz and 667MHz for the DDR memory. The end result is a theoretical 2GB/s memory bandwidth disadvantage for the GeForce

obviusly Radeon X1600 Pro 256mb AGP is much more better than 7300 in term of overclocking you can opt forit and i dont think there must a really large difference in the between the prices of both

    alright guys ..
what would be a better buy and not an overkill for my sys . (2.93ghz , p4, 1gbddr)

    gecube x1600pro 256mb (Rs.3950) or a
    sapphire x1650 512mb (Rs.3950) or a
    sapphire x1650pro 512mb (Rs.4150) ..

the prices are roughly the same .. had decided to get a x1600pro when the shop i called suggested 1650 (he didnt have 1600) ..
on paper x1650 pro should be the best , but they have different makes , so just wanted your opinions

    i dont have a pci-e slot ..
dont want to upgrade the whole thing now , will do that in about 6 months ..

about the gaming .. its nothing too intensive , but some basic games (fifa , a bit of CS on the lan.)
i know almost anything will be an upgrade over my fx5200 128mb 64bit really really old card , but while i am spending , might as well get the best available card
