Problem with Monitor - Acer 5920g

Virtually from day one my monitor Acer 5920g has stopped working. This morning I go to turn the PC and the monitor is turned off ... until the night day before when it worked without giving any problems.

In order to provide a backup of important data (in case of bringing in a service center) I tried to connect an external monitor (a perfectly functioning acer AL1714) by the vga port, but I could not make it work (because I can not access the video property).

I wonder if you know of a way to run the external display through a combination of keys, the combination fn + f5 does not work, or I do not know it ... because as I said earlier I would like to save some data before bringing in assistance.

On the external monitor you cannot even see the BIOS messages? In that case might actually be the video card to have problems. For backup you can dismantle the hard disk and attach it to another PC.

    Is exactly absolutely nothing ...
However, my notebook is an Acer 5920G - 302G16Mi, the video card is a GeForce 8600M GT 256MB (although all programs to the mark diagnostics me from 512mb ram and is actually a 2gb). What if the video card is welded on the motherboard or you can replace it? In that case I could do it myself (not the first time), I would absolutely avoid the long waiting time for, or at most go to private care center.

I do not think that laptop contains a removable video card. It must surely be welded. In this case, if it is under warranty should replace it. Or else, replace that, it will cost you less.

Is almost certainly on socket instead. Usually in acer are on the vga slot mxmX (with x equal to a number) unless igp course (like the intel X3100, AMD 690G and 780g, GeForce 8200 and 9200, eccecc).

A friend of mine told me that they are on ebay (sought after news of the famous problems on nvidia chip that burn so bad), although its series (7520g) are not sure if it is a mxm2 or 3 or something like (do not remember ever if 1 or 2 or 2 or 3 ).

EDIT: You avoid the change, especially if it is still under warranty.
