Monitor 'Flicker & No signal' problem

The problem I am facing is that my 19 inch AOC monitor displays no signal when Vista boots. The screen keeps flickering & grainy & then everything becomes fine the moment the login screen appears. This only occurs if I connect my monitor to the rightmost DVI port. The leftmost DVI port has never given me this problem. I bought this monitor 2.5 months ago & have been facing this since the first day I bought this. Another thing is that these symptoms do not show up always. When these show up & if I restart my PC once or twice, then everything is fine.

    Here's my PC config:

    Intel Core 2 Duo E4600
    GA-P35-S3G revision F3a
    Segate 500GB HDD
Transcend 2GB 800MHz RAM single stick
Palit 9600GT 512MB graphic card with v180.60 drivers
    AOC 19" LCD widescreen monitor
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32 bit

Well, to find out if that isnt your monitor problem what you can do is connect it in another computer and see if the problem persist. If it still gives the problem then it sure seems to be the monitor problem, and you can replace it as it might be under warranty also.

This may happen because of some mismatching capacity of motherboard, RAM or Display Drivers, please go through the above link provided.

Have you confirmed that your graphics card is operating properly? I would check that before considering messing with the monitor itself. Is there an old monitor you could hook up to test whether the card is sending a good signal to the display? It is more likely that an old graphics card is malfunctioning than a new monitor.

It seems that your video card is not compatible with the new monitor. You'll need to change your video card or use the VGA connection. You can also try updating the video card drivers to see if that makes any difference.

I visited all the links & they all suggest to use higher refresh rates & digital cables which I have already done the day I got this new PC. The guy who used new RAM never confirmed that his problem was solved.

I don't think the monitor is the problem because it runs great if I switch to the other DVI port. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare one to test.

Y do u say that ? My graphic card & monitor are DVI & I am using DVI-D cable. Moreover, I just bought the entire PC 2.5 months ago. Can u pls elaborate ?

I have also captured this 'flickering & no signal problem' in this video:

Hope this provides more info to u. Lastly, I want to add that when I checked my DVI cable, I found that one pin from the leftmost group of 9 pins in each connector is sunken. Is this normal for a DVI cable ? Here are the pics:

Try setting the refresh rate to "optimal" instead of setting it manually, that way the video card will set the best refresh rate for the monitor. A higher refresh rate will actually reduce flicker and usually make the pic clearer, to a point. If you want to set it manually, try 75Hz or 80Hz and 1024x768.

On my 19" Samsung, I'm running 1280x1024 @ 75Hz, and it works beautifully

Borrow a good vid card and monitor to test your system with. If another monitor works, then it's probably your monitor. If the other monitor doesn't work, then replace the vid card with the borrowed one to see if that's it.
