Yesterday AMD officially lifted the veil on its latest chipset platforms for Phenom, the 790GX, which incorporates the southbridge SB750 and a new graphics controller, the Radeon HD3300, and offers support for some technologies such as home Crossfire X.
The integrated graphics is provided by a component called Radeon HD 3300, which is the Radeon HD 3200, 780G, whose frequency has been revised upwards, from 500 to 700 MHz. Based, for the record, the core of RV610 Radeon HD 2400, this integrated controller supports DirectX 10 (not 10.1) has 40 processors flux, and incorporates the engine decompression UVD (Unified Video Decoder).
As with the 780G, manufacturers of motherboards will be able to adosser the Radeon HD 3300 of graphics memory directly soldered to the motherboard. The 790GX also offers care interfaces HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort, and the Hybrid Crossfire. On the side of the southbridge, AMD has selected SB750, which does not differ essentially SB600 and SB700 by taking charge of RAID 5.
Finally, AMD SB750 opens with a new link between the southbridge and the processor, called Advanced Clock Calibration, or ACC, and to manage a software overclocking the processor, through the utility AMD Overdrive.
