MS Project 2013 problems with Windows 8

    Hi Guys,

I have recently upgraded to a Dell all-in-one desktop with a touch screen running Windows 8.

I have installed Office 2013 suite of products, MS Project Professional 2013, and Visio Professional 2013.

Project is not working correctly. It often locks up, and I don't seem to be able to insert a new column into a table.

Should I try re-installing project? Any ideas? Anyone else having issues?

    Regards

Yes, you can try to repair the Project 2013 installation and test again. Also see whether the auto save option is enabled and it is trying to save the project. You can even try to install the latest patch for the project and see the changes, get the latest patch from below link:

    Hi Expertz,

I have reinstalled MS Project 2013 but this has not fixed the problem. I can not add new columns to a table by using the mouse to right click where I want to add it. That is, a new column appears, but I can not then select the column type I want to add, nor can I rename a column. If I go to the table edit area (i.e. tables, more tables, edit) I can edit the table and add a column there.

    Any ideas?

Have you made sure that the option for editing directly in cells are turned ON? If that is not turned on then you wont be able to insert columns. You can probably try to turn this setting on by going to File > Options > Advanced > Edit section and then check mark the option for "Edit directly in cell".

Thanks James 911, this fixed the problem.

I wonder why the default set up would stop you creating columns?
