MS Project 2010 - some commands greyed out

I'm using Project 2010 Proffessional standalone and want to show the 'Compare Projects' tab on the main ribbon. In the File/Options/Customise the ribbon box I see the 'Compare Projects' main tab and put a tick in the box to select it. The commands underneath it are all greyed out and if I select OK the tab doesnt show on the ribbon.
Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be appreciated.

The command is usually on the Project ribbon. Is it not there?

Hi JulieS, Yes, the Project tab has the Compare projects command (which I use) so my query isnt a major issue. However, my ribbon displays the main tabs : File/Task/Resource/Project/View/Developer/Format. I added the Developer tab to the ribbon no problem so I was just wondering why I cant add the Compare projects main tab to the ribbon.

I guess I'm not following. You cannot add any button to a standard group on the ribbon. You need to add a custom group and then add a button.

I was just able to add Compare projects command to a custom group on a custom ribbon and to a custom group on the Developer Ribbon.

I can do the same as you but what I am trying to do is add the Compare Projects ribbon (not just the command) through File/Options/customise ribbon. It looks as though the facility is there but it isnt working for some reason. Thanks for your help.

Ah, now I understand. I believe the full compare projects ribbon is only called through the button and is not available as a stand alone.
