Cannot find SP1 for standalone Project Pro 2010.

    Hello,

I have recently purchased and installed MS Project Professional 2010 32bit.

I have seen that there is a Service Pack (1) available when I research MS Office 2010 application.

I do not have MS Office 2010.

Where can I download the SP1 for a stand alone Project Professional 2010?

    Thanks.

Have you tried running Windows Update? It should automatically run SP-1 for Project as well as other 2010 Products.

The full list of updates is at:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/office/ee748587

Frequently it refers to Project Server, but if you drill in you can see Project 2010 client.

    Hello Julie,

    Windows update doesn't see it!

Earlier I had found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2460052 page and on it "Download the Microsoft Project 2010 32-bit Service Pack 1 package now."

I successfully downloaded but when run these messages were presented:-
"Please wait while update detection is run"
    and then
"There are no products affected by this package installed on this system."

I believe this is for MS Project 2010 Standard! I am running professional.

Thanks for taking the time to help me.

    Phil,
To the best of my knowledge, Microsoft does not release different service packs for Pro versus Standard.

You're sure you don't have SP-1 installed all ready? I do have all of Office 2010 installed to Windows 7 and picked up the SP that way.

    Hello Julie,

I was trying to avoid purchasing Office Professional 2010 but I gave in and installed it along with all updates.

The Microsoft Office group, when approached via the start button, had found and included Microsoft Project Professional automatically so I must assume that when I installed all updates 'Project' was included.

None of the other apps (Word, Excel etc) show as being SP1 so it appears that 'Professional' does not have a Service Pack released yet!

Thanks for your time and help.

    Regards.

This truly is odd. I would try running Windows Update again -- as the Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) are also at SP-1.

If you haven't all ready, restart your computer after installing the full suite and try Update again.

    Hello Julie,

I had 'restarted' my PC as part of the install so this time I shut down completely and walked away from it.

I restarted and went through Windows Update again (twice*) and no updates were available.

(* I approached WIndows Update though Word Help and again through My Computer Properties with same result.)

    Do you have Office Profesional?

I have both Project 2010 Professional and Office 2010 Professional installed.

All products show SP-1 in "About". See attached png file.

    Hi Julie,

Microsoft exposes me once again. I'm obviously not very bright!

After install I did go through the windows update process ( a few times) without success but, as they say, seeing is believing and your last post nudged me to think again.

Then I remembered my very first post on this topic and finding an SP1 download for Office 2010. doh!

I'm downloading that now and will let you know how I get on.

    Thanks

You're too hard on yourself, Phil. The update process is mysterious at best.

Let us know how you get along.

    Hi Julie

Well that didn't work - see third post on this topic.

I can no longer see the image of your Licence details. Do you see a diffference with mine?

    Actually I can see yours.
There's a massive difference. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Re: Cannot find SP1 for standalone Project Pro 2010.

    Hello Julie

The Help / About does not show the SP reference so I thought I did not have SP1 installed.

I already do. To see that I had to click on Help / About and then the "Additional version and Copyright Information" link.

That's an hour or so of my life that I'll never get back!!

I hoped this SP would solve my VBE crashing problem but obviously not - ah well!

Thanks very much for your time.

    Hi Phil,

I see you've also posted to the Microsoft forum. Glad to know you do have SP-1 installed. I also suggest installing the October CU. It is a roll up of some other hotfixes several of which have resolved instability issues with VBA.

    Hello Julie,

Yes, as I need to get answers as quickly as possible I find posting to more than one forum is the best way to go.

I'll follow up your suggestion about the CU and let you know how I get on.

    Thanks for all your help.
